Andullo

A Dominican tradition in which cured leaves are compressed into a dense rope or log, bound and wrapped in royal palm bark, and left to ferment slowly for months or years. Andullo is traditionally shaved off for pipe or chew rather than rolled into cigars.

The technique shows how sustained pressure and slow fermentation transform leaf, and a few makers now blend shaved andullo into premium cigars for its sweet, funky depth.
