Spanish Cedar Aging

Resting cigars in contact with Spanish cedar, botanically Cedrela odorata rather than a true cedar, used to line aging rooms, boxes, and humidors. The wood buffers humidity, repels tobacco beetles, and imparts a characteristic aroma.

Much of what smokers describe as the cedar note in an aged cigar comes from the storage wood, not the tobacco, and cheaper substitutes give noticeably different results.
