MSRP

Industry & Trade
Definition
Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. In the United States the actual shelf price also reflects state and local tobacco excise taxes, which vary widely, so the same cigar can differ substantially in price between states.
Why it matters
MSRP is the only price figure comparable across markets, which is why reviews quote it even though few smokers pay exactly that.
In context
"MSRP was twelve dollars, but the tax in that state pushed it past sixteen."
