Semi Vuelta

Growing & TerroirCuban Spanish
Definition
A Cuban growing zone in central and eastern Pinar del Rio, adjacent to Vuelta Abajo but on heavier soils. Its plants produce larger, coarser, stronger leaf used mainly for filler and for the domestic cigarette and machine-made trade.
Why it matters
Semi Vuelta rarely appears in top-grade Habanos, so hearing it named is a signal about which tier of production a cigar belongs to.
In context
"Most Semi Vuelta leaf never leaves the island in premium form."
