Torcedor Pairs (Parejas)
/ tor-seh-DOR pah-REH-hahs /
ConstructionCuban Spanish
Definition
A two-person team in which one worker bunches and the other wraps, splitting construction across two benches. The arrangement is standard in high-volume factories outside Cuba.
Why it matters
Dividing the job raises output substantially and lets each worker specialize, at the cost of nobody owning the whole cigar.
In context
"The parejas run four hundred a day; a single roller doing both would do half that."
