Each filler leaf is folded back and forth into pleats, and the pleated leaves are then gathered into the bunch. The folds leave vertical air passages along the cigar's length.
Why it matters
It draws nearly as well as entubado at meaningfully higher speed, which is why it is the compromise method in many mid-volume factories.
