Draw

Smoking & Technique
Definition
The resistance a cigar offers when you pull air through it. Draw is set by how tightly the bunch was rolled, how the filler leaves were folded, and whether the cap was cut cleanly.
Why it matters
Draw governs how much smoke reaches the palate and how hot the cigar burns, so it is the single mechanical variable that most often decides whether a stick smokes well.
In context
"The draw opened up after the first inch, once the cut had settled."
