NACSA (Nicaragua American Cigars S.A.)

Padron moved manufacturing from Miami to Nicaragua in 1970, six years after the company was founded, and Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. in Esteli has been its production base ever since. The operation was interrupted by the revolution and the subsequent conflict, during which the family also produced in Honduras, but Esteli became and remained the centre of the business. Esteli has been the family's manufacturing centre for more than fifty years.

The factory is comparatively small relative to Padron's market position, which reflects the company's approach: a short product line, no contract manufacture for outside brands, and long aging of tobacco before rolling. An expansion in 2003 added roughly twelve thousand square feet, taking usable space to about seventy-five thousand. The factory does not run public tours on the scale of some Esteli plants, though the company has hosted trade and press visits.

Almost all Padron cigars are box-pressed, a construction choice applied at scale here in a way few factories attempt. The plant handles Nicaraguan filler, binder and wrapper only, since the entire Padron range is a Nicaraguan puro. Public documentation of the corporate entity is limited, so this record is marked reported. Box-pressing at this volume requires dedicated presses and additional handling after rolling, which constrains throughput.
