Cap

Piece of wrapper leaf applied over the head to seal the end where the wrapper spiral terminates. Caps are cut from wrapper offcuts and fixed with a trace of vegetable gum; on a well-made cigar the join is nearly invisible.

Cutting past the cap's shoulder is the usual cause of a cigar unraveling, so knowing where the cap ends tells you where to cut.
