Harvest Passes

The sequence of trips through a field in which pickers take two or three leaves per plant, starting at the bottom and working up as each priming ripens. A crop typically requires five to eight passes spread over a month or more.

Because each pass takes leaf of a different character, the harvest schedule is what physically creates the volado, seco, and ligero grades a blender later uses.
