Seasoning a Humidor
Storage & Aging
Definition
Bringing a new humidor's cedar up to working moisture before storing cigars in it, typically by leaving a high-RH Boveda pack or a dish of distilled water inside for one to two weeks with no cigars present.
Why it matters
Unseasoned cedar pulls moisture out of the cigars themselves, so skipping this step dries out the first batch you store.
In context
"He seasoned the new cabinet for two weeks before a single box went in."
