Perdomo Cigars

Nick Perdomo Jr. founded the company in August 1992, working out of a garage in Miami under the name Nick's Cigar Co. The family's tobacco history runs back to his grandfather Silvio Perdomo, who worked in Cuban factories including Partagas from the 1930s, and to his father, who left Cuba after the revolution. The business moved production to Nicaragua as it grew and built a permanent factory in Esteli by the end of the decade.

The Esteli plant, an eighty-eight-thousand-square-foot facility known locally as El Monstro, is among the largest in the country. Perdomo controls an unusual share of its own supply chain, growing tobacco, curing and fermenting it, and operating its own box-making and finishing plants rather than buying those services in. The company also produces cigars for third parties. That degree of control is rare even among the larger Nicaraguan houses.

The core catalogue includes the anniversary series, the Double-Aged 12 Year Vintage line, the Habano Bourbon Barrel-Aged blends and the value-priced Fresco. Corporate operations remain in Miami Lakes, Florida, and the company is still owned and run by the Perdomo family. The company has also invested in retail-facing marketing and in a wide spread of price points, from budget bundles to aged premium lines, which has kept it visible across very different parts of the American market.
