Arapiraca

Tobacco & LeafSpanish
Definition
Brazilian tobacco grown around Arapiraca in the state of Alagoas. Coarser and more robust than Mata Fina, it cures to a very dark brown and is used chiefly as a maduro-style wrapper.
Why it matters
Arapiraca brings dark, earthy sweetness with more grip than Mata Fina, and it is a common alternative when Broadleaf supply is tight.
In context
"They swapped Broadleaf for Arapiraca that year and the cigar came out earthier."
