Connecticut Broadleaf

A thick, sun-grown Connecticut variety harvested by cutting the whole stalk rather than by priming. Its heavy, rugged leaf takes long fermentation well and becomes a dark, sweet maduro wrapper.

Broadleaf gives maduro its characteristic dark chocolate and molasses sweetness; the veins are prominent and the leaf is brittle, which raises rolling costs.
