Sun Grown

Growing & TerroirEnglish
Definition
Tobacco cultivated in open field without shade cloth. Full sun thickens the leaf, deepens color, raises oil and nicotine, and coarsens the veins.
Why it matters
Sun-grown leaf supplies almost all filler and binder, and sun-grown wrapper trades the silkiness of shade leaf for more flavor and grip.
In context
"The sun-grown Corojo wrapper had visible veins and a much heavier aroma than the shade leaf beside it."
