Vein

AnatomyEnglish
Definition
Raised rib of leaf structure running through the wrapper. Prominent veins burn at a different rate than the surrounding lamina and are cosmetically undesirable, which is why wrapper is de-stemmed and graded for fine veining.
Why it matters
A thick vein crossing the burn line is a common cause of an uneven burn or a small tunnel.
In context
"That heavy vein is going to hold the burn up on one side."
