Fine bumpy texture on a wrapper, visible as small raised dots across the leaf. Tooth comes from oil glands and cell structure and is most pronounced on sun-grown wrappers such as Ecuadorian and Nicaraguan habano and on Cameroon leaf.

Tooth is a varietal and cosmetic signal rather than a defect, and many smokers read a toothy sun-grown wrapper as a promise of richer flavor.
