Definition
A staged process for killing beetle eggs and larvae: seal cigars in an airtight bag, rest them in a refrigerator for about a day, move them to a freezer for roughly three days, return them to the refrigerator for a day, then let them come to room temperature before returning them to the humidor.
Why it matters
The gradual temperature steps prevent the wrapper cracking that a straight trip to the freezer causes, and freezing is the only reliable home remedy once an infestation is confirmed.
