Over-Humidification

Storage at a relative humidity higher than a cigar burns well at, historically the 70 percent half of the old 70/70 rule. Symptoms include a spongy feel, tight draw, tunneling, and flat flavor.

The tradeoff is real rather than a matter of a single correct number: higher RH protects against cracking and suits some full-bodied blends, while many modern smokers find 62 to 68 percent burns better and tastes more defined. Where you land depends on your climate, your blends, and your tolerance for dry-boxing.
