A trade term for an exceptionally pale, glossy, thin wrapper, essentially the lightest end of the claro range. Usage varies between factories and it has never been a standardized grade.

When you see cristal on a label, expect a delicate shade-grown wrapper and a mild blend, but check the actual leaf origin, since the word carries no fixed meaning.
